SPLASH AND BUBBLES FOR PARENTS is an interactive app that allows kids, parents, and caregivers to engage with episodes of Splash and Bubbles together!
Here is a handy guide to get the most out of this free app and explore our One Big Ocean with the entire family.
Watch
Tapping the WATCH icon at the bottom of the screen brings you directly to the Episode Guide, offering vocabulary words, video and music clips, and a list of conversation starters for every episode.
Using the microphone of your smartphone or tablet, you can sync the app with any episode, providing a real-time discussion guide for the show.
To sync the app, follow these steps:
While watching Splash and Bubbles, open the app and press the SYNC button at the top of the Home page. The app will listen and determine which episode is playing
Once synced, the app will bring you to the episode’s page complete with conversation starters that will pop in at just the right moment of the episode
FUN TIP: New conversation starters are available when viewing episodes for a second time after tapping “Switch View” on the episode’s page, making repeat viewings unique and full of new information!
Ocean Guide
The Ocean Guide allows you and your child to dive deeper into the marine science concepts introduced in Splash and Bubbles. You can find complete guides to every featured character and environment along with descriptions and photos of their real-life ocean counterparts provided by our friends at the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration)
The guide also contains a list of science topics covered in the series. From sharks to bioluminescence, each topic has a detailed explanation, photos, and links to related episodes.
FUN TIP: Have a go-to beloved clip or activity on the app? For quick access, you can mark any character, image, clip, or activity as a “favorite” and find it in the FAVORITES page on the app’s home screen.
Activities
Want to have Splash and Bubbles fun away from the screen? Tap the Activities icon to find a list of fun activities that help bring to life the marine science concepts introduced in the show. Some of these activities encourage you and your child to explore the animals, plants, and environments in your backyard and beyond. You can also connect the app to your tablet or smartphone’s camera to take photos of your own outdoor expeditions.
FUN TIP: You can find all the photos taken on your adventures in the PHOTO JOURNAL accessible in the ACTIVITIES section.
