The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

In 1982, The Jim Henson Company released the fantasy classic The Dark Crystal. With help from talented sculptors, writers, performers, and many more the film has become one of the must-see classics of its genre.  Now, 35 years later, older kids and fans who grew up with the film will once again discover the world of Thra in the new Netflix series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

This project, so closely tied to Jim Henson’s legacy, is being brought life by a new creative team, many of whom were inspired by the original film, including The Jim Henson Company’s Halle Stanford.

“The Dark Crystal, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Anne McCaffrey’s dragons set me on a course at a very young age to become a storyteller of the fantastic. So, it has been my greatest pleasure at the company to delve into the world of Thra and imagine what happened before the movie.  For the last fourteen years, I’ve been working with Lisa Henson to make the television series a reality and it took the unstoppable Louis Letterier, and the incredible visionary executives at Netflix to be able to make our dream come true. We will endeavor to make this a spectacular fantasy series.” says Stanford, the company’s Executive Vice President of Children’s Entertainment and an executive producer on the series
