Games Part 2

Welcome back to Games Week! Today we’ll fly to the moon with Word Party, use a box for pretend play, sing a song, and read a book.

Watch Together

In this episode of Word Party, (Season 1, Episode 3: “To the Moon,”) the babies pretend to ride in different vehicles using a big box. After watching, you might ask your child:

  • What vehicles did the babies turn the box into?

  • What vehicle would you choose if you were playing with the babies?

  • What would you see as you rode in your vehicle?

  • What else could the babies do with the box?

Watch the episode here.

Make Your Own Vehicle

Do you have a large box or container at home? You could use it to make your own vehicle like the Word Party friends did! Ask an adult to help you cut windows in your box, decorate it with paint or markers, or just leave it as is and take an imaginary trip somewhere! What vehicle will you make? Share your creations with us by posting them on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #HensonAtHome.

Let’s Sing: Row Your Boat

If your box vehicle happens to be a boat, you could sing this song while you row! Did you make something else out of your box? Try changing the lyrics around to match your vehicle. Ex: Drive, drive, drive your car. Fly, Fly, Fly your plane.

Lyrics:
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream.

Cuddle Up and Read

Invite your child to choose a book about games, pretend, or anything else he might like to read. Or catch this read-aloud of Not a Box by Antoinette Portis.
