Ocean Week Part 3

It’s the last day of Ocean week! Today we’ll celebrate dad with Splash and Bubbles, read about different types of dads, go on plastic patrol with the Splash and Bubbles parent app, and make an ocean in a bottle.

Watch Together

In this clip from Splash and Bubbles, (“Operation Happy Papa,”) Ripple works with Splash and Bubbles to give her papa a much-needed break. After watching, you might ask your child:

  • How many brothers do you think Ripple has?

  • How did Ripple, Splash, and Bubbles work together to do something nice for Ripple’s dad?

  • Can you think of something nice to do for your dad, or for someone special in your family?

Watch the clip here.

Cuddle Up and Read

Invite your child to choose a book about oceans, dads, or anything else to read with you. Or, catch this Father’s Day read-aloud of The Daddy Book by Todd Parr!

Read along to the story here.

Plastic Patrol on the Splash and Bubbles App

What does plastic have to do with the ocean? It creates pollution and is harmful to ocean life! Your child can go on plastic patrol using the free Splash and Bubbles Parents app. After downloading the app, tap on ‘activities,’ then search for the Plastic Patrol activity. From there they can learn about recycling plastic and how to consume less of it. Be sure to check out the Snap It! feature, which lets you upload pictures of your recycling project!

Download the app here.

Upcycle Craft: Ocean in a Bottle!

All it takes is a plastic bottle, some water, cooking oil, and a little food coloring to create your own model of the ocean. Bonus: By upcycling old plastic bottles through activities like this, you’re keeping them out of the ocean! Click below for the activity from Happy Hooligans.
