Making Music Part 2
Welcome back to Making Music week! Today we’ll learn about instruments with Word Party, do some make-believe while singing, cuddle up for a rhythmic book, and explore sound with a matching game.
Watch Together
In this episode of Word Party, (Season 3, Episode 1: “Hit It”), the babies decide to start a band, but Lulu and Franny want to play the same instrument. After watching, ask your child:
How did Lulu and Franny fix the problem of wanting the same instrument?
What instrument would you play if you were in a band with the babies?
Can you think of some other instruments?
Which of the babies’ instruments had strings?

Make Music: “One Elephant Went out to Play”
Try acting out this song by placing a long piece of yarn, string, or other material on the floor to act as a spiderweb. Encourage your child to pretend to be the elephant balancing on the “spiderweb” as he sings. Get the whole family involved by calling them over to join in the fun, just like the elephants do in the song!
Lyrics:
One elephant went out to play
Upon a spider’s web one day.
He had such enormous fun,
He called for another elephant to come.
(REPEAT until you get to 10 elephants).
Cuddle Up and Read
