Friends Part 3

We’re wrapping up Friend’s week with The Grinch and his puppy pal Max, helping out around the house, creating a calm space, and a special Word Party song.

Watch Together

Ever wonder how The Grinch and his dog Max became friends? Find out in this episode of “The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss”! (Season 1, Episode 20, “The Grinch Meets His Max”)

Ask your child:

  • How do you think Max felt when The Grinch was mean to him?

  • Why do you think Max kept coming back?

  • What made The Grinch like Max in the end?

  • How could The Grinch be a good friend to Max?

Helping Hands

Just like Max helped The Grinch, good friends help each other out! Give your child the chance to be a helper, as well as some matching practice, with this simple chore. Bonus: You get in some self-care by easing your load a bit!

Invite your child to find matching pairs of socks as you fold laundry. You might show him how to fold each pair once they’re matched, or just have him set them aside. Want to incorporate some math practice? Ask your child to describe the patterns on each pair or socks or count them all once he has matched them.

Make a Calm Space

Even the best of friends needs a break from each other sometimes. Having your own place to visit when you’re upset, angry, or anxious is a great way to relax and feel calmer. Click below for some tips from “Dinosaur Train” on helping your child create a calm space.

Let’s Not Fight!

Friends don’t always get along with each other, especially when it comes to tricky things like sharing! While it’s normal to have disagreements once in a while, the Word Party friends remind us that we shouldn’t fight. Click below to hear their song “Let’s Not Fight!”.
