Friends Part 2

Today’s word as we continue Friend Week is SHARE. We’ll read an Elephant & Piggie story, learn to share with the Word Party friends, make a friendship necklace with Dot., and “chalk bomb” a friend!

Cuddle Up and Read

One of the best things that friends do is share with each other! Help your child find a book about sharing or watch this read-aloud of Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems. Afterwards, ask your child:

  • Why did Gerald want to share his ice cream with Piggie? Why didn’t he?

  • Have you ever had a hard time sharing with a friend?

  • Tell me about a time when a friend shared something with you.

Find the story here.

Watch Together

In this episode of Word Party, (“What’s Mine Is Yours,” Season 4, Episode 8), Tilly and Lulu learn that sometimes sharing can be difficult. Invite your child to recall the Mandarin words in the episode:

wo de= mine

ni de= yours

women de= ours

“Chalk Bomb” a Friend

Here’s a fun way to share something with your friend while staying safe: leave them a sidewalk chalk message! Depending on the current social distancing recommendations where you live, you might sneakily “chalk bomb” your friend’s driveway while they’re inside. Or instead, write the message at your house, snap a picture of it, and send it to your friend. Then let us see your designs by using #HensonAtHome on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
