If you have any stories about sharks or other sea creatures, invite your child to choose one to read. Or watch this read-aloud of Smiley Shark by Ruth Galloway. After reading, you might ask your child:

• Why didn’t the other ocean animals want to play with Smiley Shark?

• How did that make him feel?

• What kinds of defenses did the animals have?

• Can you think of a sea creature that a shark wouldn’t scare?
