Ocean Week Part 1

We’re kicking off Ocean week by celebrating World Oceans Day with all Splash and Bubbles-themed activities! Today we’ll clean up the kelp forest with Splash and Bubbles, make a “tidy” snack, be ocean heroes, and sing about sharing.

Watch Together

In this episode of Splash and Bubbles, (Episode 8, “Kelp Forest Keepers,”) Bubbles, Dunk, and Splash help Tidy clean up the kelp forest so they can have more time to play together. After watching, you might ask your child:

  • Why do you think it was so hard for Bubbles, Dunk, and Splash to tidy up?

  • How can we help keep the ocean clean even though we live on land?

  • Do you know of any other animals that like to clean?

Make a Garibaldi Fish Snack

This activity shows you how to make a healthy snack that looks like Tidy! Using baby carrots, radishes, and a few other ingredients, you can create your own Garibaldi fish in a kelp forest. Don’t worry if you don’t have some of the ingredients listed. You can always substitute something else based on availability or preference.

Be an Ocean Hero with Splash and Bubbles

Help your child learn how to take care of the ocean using the free Splash and Bubbles Parents app! After downloading the app, tap on ‘activities,’ then search for the Be an Ocean Hero activity. From there you can explore ways to care for the ocean right here on land. Be sure to check out the Snap It! feature, which lets you upload pictures of your ocean hero efforts!

Let’s Sing “One Big Ocean”

Everyone has disagreements sometimes- even Splash and Bubbles! In this song, Flo sings about how sharing is important because we all live in one big ocean.

Sing along to the song here.
